Word from the Pastor
This past Sunday, I made a commitment to have family worship. It was something God had placed on my heart for years, but I always felt distracted or made excuses about how busy life was. This past Monday, we had our first family worship in a very long time. I had certain expectations, but let’s just say it was a lot easier than I thought. Though with three kids, it did feel a little chaotic, I was thankful to have a time of worship with my children.
We danced to one of the children’s worship songs, watched a short video about creation, and went around sharing what we learned. It’s amazing to see how much children actually understand and how they can reflect on what they hear. Soyul said she was surprised that God made the animals and flowers, and Joy said she hadn’t realized God even made the seasons. We all took a moment to reflect on God, His power, and the intelligent design in creation.
We live in a time when the world is trying to teach our kids about a world without God. But I’m thankful for these brief moments where we can reflect on God and how He speaks to us. I am praying that even though this time may seem short, it is planting seeds in their hearts. One day, I hope they will remember these moments of worship that help shape their lives.
How are you committing your time and energy to the kingdom of God? What are some of the commitments you feel the Holy Spirit is pushing you toward? All it takes is a confession of faith and a step of action, and it will get done. All it took for me was a decision in my heart to begin this worship, and through that commitment, I began to see life being poured into our family. Brothers and sisters, continue to seek the Lord and commit your ways to Him. He will truly pour out grace and blessings as you continue to pour out your life to Him. Amen.
Today's Word
"What's in Your Heart?"
Mark 7:14-23
14 And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”[a] 17 And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. 18 And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19 since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?”[b] (Thus he declared all foods clean.) 20 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”
