2.23.25 Word from the Pastor

Updated: Mar 29

This week, after meeting with several members of The Well, I had the privilege of hearing their stories—their joys, struggles, and burdens. To be honest, life isn’t easy. Some seasons feel full of blessing, while others are marked by hardship. As I reflect on my own life over the years—not just in ministry, but in the many milestones I’ve faced—I’m reminded of the challenges that have shaped me. Becoming a husband, stepping into fatherhood, and figuring out my calling have all been weighty questions that, at times, felt overwhelming.

As I listened to these stories, I found myself asking: How can I truly help? I can’t live life for others. I can offer encouragement, but how far does that really go? As I wrestled with this, I felt a strong prompting from the Lord—to pray. The best thing we can do in every circumstance is to bring it before Him.

Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

Why does Scripture call us to pray without ceasing? Because when we humble ourselves in prayer, we acknowledge that it is not our strength but God’s power that sustains us. It is in prayer that we encounter Him and find the strength to give thanks—even in difficult circumstances. Life is not easy, but the way to overcome isn’t simply by searching for solutions; it’s by seeking the Lord. This is what He has been impressing on my heart as I hear the burdens of our church family.

Encounter is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Where do you find yourself today? Does your well feel dry? Do you feel hopeless in your current circumstances? Does the future seem uncertain, with no end in sight?

Brothers and sisters, I encourage you—come to the fountain. Drink deeply from the living water that Jesus offers. There is breakthrough, but it comes when we humble ourselves before the Lord and seek His face. May you encounter Him afresh and find the strength to endure each day. Amen.
